Web browsers(ff and IE) will not connect, only messaging(AIM and yahoo) will.?

Using Vista on a home wireless network, Dynamic IPs. Power cycling the router is the only thing that seems to fix it. This only happens during a period of inactivity, when i wake up in the morning, or after I get home from work. No change in settings, everything left alone. I thought it could be windows updates, but it happens 5 times a week. Using the default vista firewall settings, turning off the firewall does not help. Point me in the right direction to help troubleshoot this, thanks

Sounds like a problem with domain name resolution (DNS). Try adding the following DNS server IPs to your machine and see if this resolved the problem.

OpenDNS is a free DNS resolution service. It provides the following two recursive nameserver addresses for public use, mapped to the nearest operational server location by Anycast routing:

* 208.67.222.222 (resolver1.opendns.com)

* 208.67.220.220 (resolver2.opendns.com)

DNS resolution is becoming a big problem for ISPs who fail to invest in infrastructure upgrades as their client base increases. I've used my personal DNS services for sometime now simply because of similar issues.
