look for the star in the up left corner...that is your favs.

theres a star in the upper left hand corner. Its hard to find because its small and internet explorer changed their format around!
If they really are gone, try opening up My Computer/Local Disk/Windows/Favorites. They might be in there.

In the future, save them by importing them all into Yahoo Bookmarks! I also have all mine on my My Yahoo! page, so that I can access them from any computer.
